Imposition Test

The Intent

After locating the origins, Separation continues by examining which goals are imposed as opposed to real. The Imposition Test exposes which goals and pursuits persist due to expectations, compliance, or fear of disapproval or rejection rather than genuine choice.

The Practice

From your list, take those that feel heavy or pressured. All the "I must" and "I should" are to be examined. For each one, ask yourself: "Who would disapprove if I were to stop valuing or pursuing this? Myself, or others?" "Who expects this of me, and when did I first learn this was expected of me?" "Did I ever agree that I want this, did I ever choose this, or have I just complied?" Write the answers as plainly as possible, do not sugar coat them. Mark any that exist only to avoid conflict, guilt, or disapproval.

The Insight

Those that are pursued only to satisfy others, to prove your worth, not to yourself, but your environment, or to maintain acceptance as opposed to your own desire or choice are imposed scripts. They do not belong to yourself, but to others. Removing or renegotiating them begins the real act of Separation.
